Carl Percy Jager: The Quiet Predator of Matagorda County (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798171101244)

Carl Percy Jager: The Quiet Predator of Matagorda County is a true-crime investigative history told by one of the children adopted into Jager's household in 1974. Through firsthand testimony, local history, and decades of buried whispers, the book examines how a man can move through a small town as a respected figure while leaving behind trauma that never made the newspapers.
This is not a claim of guilt. It is a record of patterns - alibi gaps, weapon access, violent behavior, proximity to victims, and a lifetime of unchallenged freedom of movement - that place Jager as a natural investigative suspect in several unsolved cases, including the disappearances of Wanda Priddy and Kathryn Collins, and the homicides of Mary Ann Deas, Dianne "Dinki" Gajdos, and Charlene Corporon.
The story traces the machinery of silence that protected him: barroom rumors, coffee-shop politics, alleged payoffs, missing weapons, sealed files, and a community that learned to look away. It also chronicles the cost of that silence - for the women who never saw justice, for the families left without answers, and for the children who survived the violence inside Jager's home.
Part memoir, part investigative history, and part reckoning, this book asks a single, urgent question: How many lives can be shaped by one man's unchecked power - and how long can a community keep the truth buried?
