Born the eldest son of a Baptist minister in Nassau Bahamas, Dr. Adderley matriculated to college at the age of 16, then served for one year at the United Nations as a junior diplomat (International Relations) for the Uganda Mission to the UN. Returning to the Bahamas a few years later, he became involved in politics, and formed the Commonwealth Peoples Party to force discussion on the Government's proposal for an Independence White Paper. Consequently, he was invited to be an "Official Observer" at the Bahamas Independence Talks in London (1972) and served as Conference Public relations Officer. On the occasion of Bahamian Independence he was appointed to serve in the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. Seven years later resigning from government service, Adderley earned a Master of Divinity from Andrews Theological Seminary, and a Master's degree in History from the University of Memphis, after which he taught on the University level for 20 years before retiring as an ordained minister, History Professor and an educational counselor. An avid reader of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Adderley has served as a past chairman of the History & Historiography Department for the Mid-West Education Research Association (MWERA). At present, he serves as Director of Christian Education for the Iowa Baptist State Convention, President & Dean of Faith Academy of Religious Studies, a Board member of the Waterloo Commission of Human Rights.
