Andrew Hatch was born in New Hampshire and raised by Rev. John Hatch (a Baptist minister) and his mother Elizabeth in New England and rural New York State. His early years were spent in Lebanon Springs, NY, the location of this book. He completed Bible college in Alberta Canada where he had a short story "I Faced Death" published in their youth magazine. He worked on ranches in Montana and Alberta, was a Forest Service worker in northern California, and did children's mission work in British Columbia. Iliad Press published his short story "Sharing" in 1995. He has also completed two adult novels, West of Boston and Mystery of the Sweet Grass Hills.
