After leaving school Kit Brading joined the RAAF as a Junior Trainee. Kit's understanding of electronics soon resulted in an posting to the RAAF School of Radio in Ballarat. Kit left the RAAF late in 1958 and soon gained commercial flying qualifications as well as a diploma in electronics at the then Brisbane Technical College. His dual qualifications and career interests proved to be most useful talents, assets that would ensure him of an exciting future. For the next several years he assisted with electronic military application research programs, many in concert with foreign governments, both on land and from within the confines of an Air America flying laboratory. Most of the hi-tech weapons research, test and development operations took place in and around South East Asia with, some exceptions that were to take him to Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the US. The author has clearly drawn upon his technical knowledge and various 'field' experiences as a CIA contractor, to enrich the factual feel that Change in Direction implies. Tragically, some of the aerial carnage portrayed did occur in real life.
