Book Three of Changes Wrought picks up in November of 1917, as another Allied offensive grinds to a halt in the muck of Flanders. The Allies have suffered several hundred thousand casualties without breaking the German lines or capturing the critical U-boat base at Ostend. Field Marshal Haig tries once more before winter sets in, attacking near Cambrai where the terrain will support the weight of his Mark IV tanks.
