On March 25, 2009, The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Doctrine issued their Guidelines for Evaluating Reiki as an Alternative Therapy. The final statement of this document summarizes the Bishop's conclusions regarding Reiki: "Since Reiki therapy is not compatible with either Christian teaching or scientific evidence, it would be inappropriate for Catholic Institutions or people representing the Church to promote or provide support for Reiki therapy."
