Class Britannia: Britain, Class and the Control Model of Society (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798391416920)

Katali Editions is pleased to announce the publication of its first foray into political commentary. Alfie Cooke's latest work - Class Britannia - sees the development of a concept of social analysis called "The Control Model" whereby any society in any time period and of any size can be split into sections that relate to those who have no control over their lives, those who have some control over their own lives, and those who are able to exercise control over the lives of other. He then goes on to assess Britain in its current state to determine how our society functions. Dismissing the historical class language that is so common in today's parlance - upper, class, middle class, bourgeoisie - Cooke has attempted to develop an understanding of society based upon the elements of an individual's life that they are able to control, who holds control over those that they can't, and the purpose that this control within society defines. We are of the opinion that this should be required reading.
