J. Benton Brown grew up in Henrietta, TX, the county seat of Clay County. He graduated from Texas A&M University and spent thirteen years as a classroom teacher in various public schools around Texas before returning to university to get his Master's Degree in School Counseling from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. It was while he was working on his advanced degree that he reconnected with his hometown celebration and became interested in documenting it through pictures and stories. J. Benton currently works internationally, but loves to stay in touch with his hometown and vicariously enjoys seeing pictures and videos of each new edition of the Clay County Pioneer Reunion Parade.
