The Author has endeavored to paint a macabre picture of the wars as seen through the eyes of defenseless families and individuals caught up in the pandemonium. To a large extent, this is their story; a story of excruciating physical pain and intense emotional and psychological trauma. The war stories explored in this book are inextricably interwoven with the prevailing political and socio-economic conditions in both countries during the period under review - from the outbreak of the war in Liberia in 1989 to the invasion of Sierra Leone territory in 1991. Details of the bitter experiences of Sierra Leonean and Liberian refugees on Sierra Leone soil are explored after the war crossed the border into Sierra Leone.

Bobby David Gboyor was born in 1962, at Bambawo village, Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District, Sierra Leone. He is a graduate of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and London South Bank University Department of Law in the United Kingdom. In 2007, Bobby completed an LL.M program in International Law at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. Mr. Gboyor received the designation of a Certified Public Manager (CPM), in September 2017, from the Center for Excellence in Public Leadership at George Washington University, and the Government of the District of Columbia, Washington D.C. Since February 2001, Mr. Gboyor has worked for the Office of the Attorney General; District of Columbia Government, Washington D.C. Mr. Gboyor was also Case Manager with the Office of the Chief Prosecutor, the United Nations war crimes tribunal, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, from 2002 to 2004.
