Cold Heart (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798869275851)

What if the JFK assassination wasn't the act of a lone gunman... but the final move in a shadow

war of spies, mobsters, and double agents?

Cold Heart is a Cold War espionage thriller that blends real history with gripping fiction. At its

center is Pilar Rivera - a beautiful, ruthless Cuban spy whose path collides with Fidel Castro,

the CIA, and the American underworld. From Havana's smoky nightclubs to Washington's

marble corridors of power, Pilar is the woman who could seduce any man, kill without hesitation,

and alter the course of history.

Fans of John le Carré, Alan Furst, and Robert Littell will devour this taut, atmospheric thriller

where love, betrayal, and geopolitics entwine in the most infamous murder of the 20th century.

The Premise

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas. Official accounts point

to a lone assassin. But what if the truth was far stranger?

Cold Heart dares to reimagine the shadows behind history. This is not a conspiracy manifesto,

but a tautly woven spy novel where the threads of organized crime, CIA intrigue, Soviet

espionage, and Cuban revolutionaries tangle into one extraordinary story. At its center is a woman history

forgot - because she was never meant to be remembered. Her name is Pilar Rivera, and this is her story.

The Anti-Heroine: Pilar Rivera

Raised amid the violence of Batista's Cuba, Pilar learns early that survival requires charm,

cunning, and a willingness to do whatever it takes. By the time she is a teenager, she is already

an adept liar, manipulator, and seductress - talents that attract the attention of both Havana's

criminal underworld and revolutionary cells.

Pilar is no mere femme fatale cliché. She is both victim and predator: scarred by poverty,

sharpened by betrayal, yet driven by a hunger for agency in a world where men pull the strings.

Her loyalties shift like quicksilver, not out of ideology but survival. Sometimes working for Fidel

Castro's revolutionaries, sometimes selling herself to mobsters like Jack Ruby, Pilar embodies

the murky moral compromises of Cold War espionage.

Through her eyes, we see a world where sex and violence are currency, and where the personal

is always political.

The Historical Stage

The novel unfolds against the turbulent backdrop of the late 1950s and early 1960s:

● Cuba's Revolution: Fidel Castro's ragtag rebels bring down Batista, igniting both

American hope and fear.

● CIA Plots: Washington is awash with schemes to topple Castro, involving everything

from poisoned cigars to covert invasions.

● The Mafia's Stake: With Havana casinos lost to Castro's revolution, mob bosses like

Santo Trafficante, Jr. seethe with rage - and quietly plot their revenge.

● The Cold War Chessboard: Every move in Havana or Dallas reverberates through

Moscow and Washington, where ideology and paranoia dictate policy.

Pilar threads through all these worlds - spy, mistress, courier, assassin. She is the woman who

knows too much, trusted by none, used by all.

Supporting Cast of Shadows

While Pilar drives the narrative, Cold Heart brims with unforgettable figures, many drawn from

history, others from the author's imagination:

● Jack Ruby: Dallas nightclub owner, mob hanger-on, and desperate schemer who

crosses Pilar's path in ways that forever alter both their lives.

● Fidel Castro: Charismatic yet ruthless, he both exploits and underestimates Pilar,

sending her on missions too dangerous for men he trusts more.

● Celia Sánchez: Castro's confidante, who sees through Pilar's charm but recognizes her

value in the revolution's dirty work.
