I am a mountain boy, fundamentalist escapee, 'Nam vet, sailboat builder, sailor, former small plane owner, pilot, father, soccer player, coach, referee, retired civil engineer, grandfather, voracious reader, and morning walker. I have lived in 5 states and in 5 countries on 3 continents spending about 13 years overseas before returning to raise a couple of kids and have lived in the same place for the last 30 years. I have enjoyed reading and hearing action poems, especially Robert Service and Richard Kipling, as long as I can remember. I had never considered writing poems until about 5 years ago. My kids had gotten me back on the net via Facebook and I was bored at the quality of the comments, including or especially mine. While attempting to pep up a lawn mowing story I accidentally produced a rhyme. I like the result and tried a few others, it snowballed, and then got completely out of hand. I now have the compulsion somewhat under control, although it still consumes significant amounts of time. I now self-inoculate with daily rhyme production. I have reduced my major efforts to every couple of weeks or so as the Muse, interest, or anger strikes. A while back I saw a contest notice for manuscript publication. This seemed an ideal reason to resurrect early efforts from my archives, edit, polish and submit. While a lengthy time consuming process I enjoyed the work and review. After four unsuccessful submissions I decided to try on my own. And thus we are here.
