Roman Ingarden (1893-1970) was an outstanding Polish philosopher, student of Husserl in Gtingen, and professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow from 1946. Ingarden was the author of numerous works in aesthetics and theory of literature; however, his major contribution to philosophy is the ontological treatise Controversy over the Existence of the World.
