He was convicted of murder without a body. Then he confessed - and the case changed completely.
In December 2020, Delphine Jubillar, a 33-year-old nurse and mother of two, disappeared from her home in southern France.
There was no body. No established murder scene. No confession.
For almost five years, investigators built a case from fragments: phone activity, witness accounts, a failing marriage, evidence inside and around the family home, vehicle movements, disputed statements and contradictions that would eventually be tested before a jury.
Cédric Jubillar denied killing his wife.
In October 2025, a French court convicted him of Delphine's murder and sentenced him to thirty years in prison.
Nine months later, everything changed.
Cédric admitted responsibility. He provided information that led investigators to an area where human remains were recovered. DNA confirmed they were Delphine's.
For the first time, the murder case that had convicted a man without a body could be tested against what came afterwards.
Which parts of the prosecution's case had been right?
Which clues had been given more certainty than the evidence justified?
What did the confession finally explain - and what did it leave unresolved?
CONVICTED WITHOUT A BODY reconstructs the disappearance, investigation, extraordinary 2025 trial, conviction, 2026 confession and recovery of Delphine's remains.
Drawing on French legal sources, court reporting, investigative material and contemporary reporting, it examines the evidence from both directions: what investigators and jurors knew when they convicted Cédric Jubillar, and what can be said now that Delphine has finally been found.
The book examines:
At its centre remains Delphine: not simply the missing woman around whom a national mystery formed, but the person whose disappearance began the entire case.
A documented true-crime investigation into a conviction without a body - and what happened when the body was finally found.
