From the drawing boards of Coro Jewelry's gifted designers, this archival collection presents original renderings in pencil, watercolor, and gouache - works on paper documenting the creative imagination behind one of mid-century America's most celebrated costume jewelry houses. Active from 1901 to 1979, Coro operated its flagship factory at 167 Point Street, Providence, Rhode Island, employing thousands of craftsmen and producing millions of pieces at every price point. Volume 1A presents designs inspired by Birds & Beasts - figurative brooches rendered by Coro's talented designers at the height of the company's creative output. These drawings were never intended to outlast the factory. Salvaged as the Providence facility was dismantled in 1979, they survived to become what their makers never imagined - a record, and a testament. Published by 167 Point Street Press.
