Cosette Moore & Rachel Alloway: Two Novellas (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798567892831)

COSETTE MOORE: A young mythologist with a Decadent's penchant for the depressive recalls her upbringing within a family struggling to stay above the poverty line. Under the tyrannical rule of the god Inertia, progress has become impossible, political illiteracy has become widespread and pollution has become the silent killer in the north. Brimming with metaphor and divided by cautionary tales about the excesses of power, Cosette Moore satirizes dormancy and demagogy in a divided town called Purgatory.RACHEL ALLOWAY: Inspired by Molière's character Tartuffe, this five-act novella follows the restless McCreery children and the reclusive Rachel as they all attempt to expose the duplicity behind a big tent, "blank canvas" populist movement and its two paranoid, megalomaniacal leaders. Through their use of "you are significant", as well as obscurity, illusion and pedantry, their movement becomes exceedingly popular as they both become increasingly ambitious. A dark and absurd comedy, a satire of the "mass appeal argument" and a strong rebuke of religion and dogma, Rachel Alloway is both an endorsement of rationalism and a warning to the unwary.
