Kathy Park is an artist, writer and teacher living with her artist husband Henry Woolbert in Colorado's San Luis Valley. She graduated from Lesley University with an MFA in creative writing, and currently teaches through Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. Kathy wrote about her fifteen year apprenticeship with the granite sculptor, Gordon Newell in her memoir Seeing Into Stone: A Sculptor's Journey (also published by Mercury HeartLink). She is working on a manuscript about her lifelong practice of Aikido, tentatively titled From Revenge to Reconciliation: How Aikido principles can help you stay sane in a crazy world, a hybrid memoir which includes her experience teaching Aikido principles to a group of incarcerated women in a federal prison.
