Creative Surge: Three Winters with Tom Thomson (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781777810436)

In just three winters Tom Thomson created all of his masterworks, an achievement sometimes overshadowed by incredible mastery of oil sketches and his untimely death.

David Kearn and France Laliberté take us on a voyage of discovery through the poignant winters of 1914/15, 1915/16 and 1916/17 in Tom Thomson's studio. Their back and forth conversations offer a lens through which to rediscover his major works - and their related sketches - re-energizing and refreshing our attachment to his paintings as well as Tom's evolution as an artist. The authors' strong personal connection to Thomson's genius shines through a deep respect for these magnificent works.

Much has been written - and continues to be written - about Tom Thomson and his art. David and France are perhaps the first to convey the drama and importance of these three winters.
