Da'at HaKahal: A High Holidays Sermon Anthology 5786/2025 (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798267283786)

In moments when the world feels unsteady, the High Holidays call us back to the deepest truths of Jewish life: teshuvah, prayer, and community. Da'at HaKahal: A High Holidays Sermon Anthology 5786/2025 gathers the voices of rabbis from across the spectrum of Jewish experience who each bring courage, vulnerability, and defiant hope to their pulpit. These sermons, composed in the shadow of grief and amid ongoing struggle, speak honestly to the fractures within Jewish communities and the broader world. They wrestle with war and peace, silence and speech, despair and resilience. They call us to sit next to one another even when we disagree, to hold fast to humanity when cruelty threatens to overwhelm, and to find beauty in the fragile sukkah of peace. Yet the message is not only of brokenness. These pages resound with faith that-even when we feel unprepared-our tradition equips us to respond with dignity, compassion, and joy. From Selichot's trembling midnight prayers to the closing cry of Ne'ilah, the anthology affirms that Jewish time spirals forward: always remembering, always renewing, always insisting that despair is not an option. This collection is more than sermons; it is a communal testimony. In these Days of Awe, as gates open wide, Da'at HaKahal invites us to teach, to preach, and to build community together-so that even in darkness, we may kindle light.
