Daisy Comes Home (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798240985546)

Some hearts have room for just one more.

Dink has everything a curly red puppy could want - a warm bed, a sunny spot on the floor, and a family who loves him. But the house has grown quiet and the days have grown busy, and Dink has begun to carry his favorite toy to the door to wait... and wait... for someone to play with. What Dink needs is a friend.

So the family sets out down a long country road to a kind old farmer with a yard full of tumbling puppies. Every one of them comes bounding over, barking "Pick me! Pick me!" - every one but a tiny puppy in the corner, quiet and still, with the biggest, softest, droopiest eyes you ever saw. Her name will be Daisy. And from the moment she is lifted up and wrapped in a soft blanket, a shy little puppy begins to discover what it means to be wanted, to be safe, and to be loved.

There is something tender in the way the smallest and shyest one - the puppy nobody else noticed - is the very one chosen and brought home. But the sweetest moment of all comes at the food bowl. Dink has always run there first; he is the bigger one, after all. This time he stops. He sits back. And he lets little Daisy eat first. Because love, it turns out, is never made smaller when you share it. Love only grows.

Daisy Comes Home is a gentle, true story about making room in your heart for someone new - and the simple, beautiful truth that two are always better than one. It is built on the words of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10: "Two are better than one... For if one falls down, his companion can lift him up." In a world that so often tells children to look out for themselves, this little book whispers something kinder and truer: God did not make us to be alone. He made us for one another - to share, to help, and to love.

Perfect for ages 3 to 7, Daisy Comes Home is made for snuggly bedtime reading, lap-time story hours, Sunday school and children's church, and quiet moments between a grandparent and a grandchild. It's an ideal gift for welcoming a new sibling, a new pet, or a new friend - anytime a little heart is learning to share the love it has.

Tender and reassuring, this is a story that opens real conversations at just the right age. It gently speaks to the child who feels nervous about a new baby coming, or a new puppy in the house, or simply having to share what has always been theirs. It models patience, generosity, and kindness toward the quiet one in the corner - the friend who is easy to overlook. And it gives mothers, fathers, and grandparents a soft, natural way to talk about belonging, about putting others first, and about the God who places the lonely in families and never leaves a heart to ache alone.

This is Book Two in The Adventures of Dink & Daisy - Tails of God's Love, a sweet series of faith-filled picture books following two little dogs and the family who loves them. If you and your child fell in love with Dink Comes Home (God Settles the Lonely), Daisy's story is the next chapter - and it can be read and treasured all on its own.

Written by Rev. Tom Andrufski - pastor, songwriter, and proud "grandpa" to the real Dink and Daisy - Daisy Comes Home carries the warmth of a story told straight from the family living room.
