Lorraine Richardson is of Anglo-Indian parentage and spent her early years in Bombay, India. During the period of the research study, she was an MSc Social Anthropology student at Brunel University, Uxbridge, England and was working for the National Health Service (NHS) as a health professional. The refuge in the study was part of her caseload. She currently works as an associate lecturer with The Open University. She has three children and lives in England.
