Before becoming an ordained minister, Rev. Dr. Arthur L. Porter was an attorney. He was called into the ministry in 1997 and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Fort Wayne, IN with a master's degree in divinity and ordained as a Lutheran pastor in 2000. He has served as pastor of churches in Birmingham, Alabama, New Orleans, Louisiana and Los Angeles, California. He is the author of Slavery of Christian Freedom: A Christian Guide to Abundant Living. Rev. Porter also hosts a weekly Sunday sermon on his blog at www.thewordwise.org. He has been married to Janice Henderson for fifty years and they have two children and one grandchild.
