What could be more pleasant than a short break on the Algarve with a group of friends? But, when the wheelchair on which he depends is damaged in flight, DCI Jonah Porter wishes that he had never come. Relationships are stretched to breaking point as his frustrations mount. Then a guest falls from the balcony of a neighbouring apartment and foul play is suspected. With a puzzling case to solve, Jonah is back in his element. Who could have wanted to kill a popular family-man who makes friends with everyone he meets? Jonah needs all his skill and experience to hunt out the truth behind the murder of a man with no enemies. This is the fifth novel featuring DCI Jonah Porter. If you have enjoyed reading his life story in CHANGING SCENES OF LIFE or trying to puzzle out who dunnit in AWAYDAY, you'll love this latest story of Jonah and his friends.

Like her main character, Bernie Fazakerley, Judy Ford is an Oxford graduate and a mathematician. Unlike Bernie, Judy grew up in a middle-class family in the South London stockbroker belt. After moving to the North West and working in Liverpool, Judy fell in love with the Scouse people and created Bernie to reflect their unique qualities. As a Methodist Local Preacher, Judy often tells her congregation, "I see my role as asking the questions and leaving you to think out your own answers." She carries this philosophy forward into her writing and she hopes that readers will find themselves challenged to think as well as being entertained.
