Denominations: The Case for the One Church Jesus Built and the Plea to Return to It (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798184612645)

Jesus prayed that His followers would be one. Look around. What happened?

Thousands of denominations. Competing creeds. Different names, different doctrines, different terms of membership - all claiming the same Lord. But the night before He died, Jesus prayed "that they may all be one... that the world may believe" (John 17:21). Division is not a small thing. It is the thing Jesus said would keep the world from believing.

Denominations takes an honest look at how religious division happened, what the New Testament says about the church Jesus promised to build, and whether it is still possible to be simply a Christian - a member of His church, wearing His name, following His Word alone.

Across 34 chapters, this book examines:
- What Jesus actually promised in Matthew 16:18 - and what He did not
- How the major denominations arose, and what each one added to or took from the pattern
- The marks of the New Testament church: its name, its worship, its organization, its terms of entrance
- Whether unity is a dream or a command

This is not an attack on people. It is a plea to people - to lay every creed beside the Bible and keep what matches.

The church Jesus built still exists. This book will help you find it.
