Richard A.M. Dixon was born in Massachusetts and later migrated to Seattle where he learned to survive and thrive in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. He attended the University of Washington and earned a BS in psychology as well as a commission in the Army. He met and married his wife in Columbus Georgia while attending the Infantry School and Ranger School. He served 24 years in the Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He began writing full time in 2007. His first book, My Heroes Have Always Been Dogs, was nonfiction. His first novel, Dillon's War - The weretiger of Kontum became the first tale in a trilogy about the Vietnam War. He has also written and published a memoir titled, Angels in My Foxhole, about his life in the Army. The final draft of his Dillon's War trilogy is finished in Final Draft. He is currently working on a historic novel about the French involvement in Indochina. He has three grown children and lives in the woods surrounded by Puget Sound with his wife and golden retriever.
