Mel Henry is a die-hard romantic with a flair for the dramatic. At the age of six, she wrote a children's book based on the true story of the family of rabbits she rescued from her farm pond. It was a contender for a Newbery Award until the board found out she'd actually thrown the rabbits in the pond before said rescue.
