Diverse Leadership in The Foursquare Church (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9780986098826)

This book explores the problem of the underrepresentation of senior female leaders in the denomination known as The Foursquare Church. The Foursquare Church-founded by a woman, Aimee Semple McPherson-endorses women in every area of ministry through its positional statement and bylaws. An area of study will be to determine if the leadership endorses an egalitarian theology as this denomination has fewer female leaders than other denominations.

To address this problem, I first conducted biblical-theological research to identify female leaders in the Old and New Testaments serving in the same roles as men as the foundation for the project. Second, I conducted a literature review to investigate issues facing women in the context of secular and religious leadership roles.

Informed by these research reviews, I used a qualitative methodology incorporating two valid data-collecting instruments: a survey with fifteen closed-ended questions and sixty- to ninety-minute interview sessions. I then administered both instruments to five senior female leaders currently serving The Foursquare Church in the United States, exploring their perceptions and experiences in search of commonalities concerning the denomination's forfeiture of women in senior leadership roles within The Foursquare Church.
