She is a Navy daughter, an Army daughter-in-law and sister, and a Marine niece of servicemen, but her years as the spouse of an Army Soldier have involved her in the lives of other servicemen and women. In July of 2011, her book, Dog Tags: The History, Personal Stories, Cultural Impact, and Future of Military Identification was published. The book was chosen as a finalist in the History Category of The USA Best Books 2011 Awards. In October, 2011, Ginger was invited to speak at the Library of Congress as part of the Botkin Folklife Lecture Series. The series invites professionals from academia and the public sector to present findings from their research. She has done numerous radio and TV spots, and written articles about this topic .She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas, and a Master of Science in Community Health Administration and Wellness Promotion from California College for Health Sciences.
