Dora Greenwell: A Prophet for Our Times on the Battleground of Our Faith (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025615615)

"Dora Greenwell: A Prophet for Our Times on the Battleground of Our Faith" is a compelling biographical and theological exploration of the life and works of the influential 19th-century poet and devotional writer, Dora Greenwell. Written by Constance L. Maynard, this work delves into the profound spiritual insights and intellectual struggles that defined Greenwell's literary output. Greenwell was widely recognized for her deep empathy and her unique ability to articulate the complexities of faith amidst the shifting cultural and intellectual landscapes of the Victorian era.

Maynard examines Greenwell as a visionary whose reflections on suffering, grace, and the human condition offer enduring relevance for readers navigating their own spiritual journeys. The book offers an intimate window into the inner life of a woman who balanced poetic sensitivity with a rigorous, investigative commitment to Christian thought. By analyzing her poems, essays, and personal reflections, Maynard presents a portrait of a writer who sought to reconcile the "battleground" of doubt with the profound truths of her faith. This work serves as both an illuminating tribute to Greenwell's literary legacy and a thoughtful guide for those seeking depth and authenticity in their devotional lives.
