Double-Crossed: American Countess in the Crosshairs (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781481071246)

Every now and then a person comes along whose light shines so brightly that her glow cast a luster on the people and the events of her time. All too frequently, however, the light that shines too brightly fades quickly. Double-Crossed is the story of Countess Marjorie de Aguirre (née Skinner) - countess, socialite, and poet who, along with other pioneering women of her time, forged new lifestyles only to encounter a different set of hurdles. From the rough and tumble early years of the 20th century to the madcap Twenties to the lull of the Great Depression to a world on the brink of military madness, Countess de Aguirre blazed a trail fit for posterity. Courted by the crème-de-la-crème in America and Europe, her fate was ultimately sealed by extraordinary circumstances. Journey in Countess de Aguirre's footsteps and psyche as she recounts her life in this one-of-a-kind psychological saga.
