Due Diligence of a Layer 2 - The Bitcoin Hyper Case: Volume I - Foundations, Architecture, and Security of a Layer 2 on Bitcoin (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9791282708029)

Can Bitcoin scale without sacrificing the principles that make it secure?

Bitcoin was deliberately designed to be conservative, resilient, and difficult to change. Those same qualities that make it a powerful settlement network also limit its ability to support fast transactions, complex smart contracts, and general-purpose decentralised applications.

Due Diligence of a Layer 2 - The Bitcoin Hyper Case examines one of the most ambitious attempts to address that challenge: Bitcoin Hyper, a pre-mainnet Layer 2 project designed to combine Bitcoin settlement with an execution environment based on the Solana Virtual Machine.

Volume I - Foundations, Architecture, and Security of a Layer 2 on Bitcoin provides the technical foundation required to understand the project before attempting to evaluate it.

Through a rigorous yet accessible analysis, Michele Stefanelli explores:

• why Bitcoin needs Layer 2 infrastructure and which problems it is intended to solve;

• the differences between forks, sidechains, payment channels, and rollups;

• how off-chain execution can interact with settlement on Bitcoin;

• why Bitcoin Hyper has chosen the Solana Virtual Machine as its execution environment;

• how parallel execution, account-based architecture, and determinism affect performance and security;

• the role of sequencers, state commitments, data availability, and the Canonical Bridge;

• the distinction between execution integrity and settlement integrity;

• the infrastructure, tooling, and developer experience required to support a functioning Layer 2 ecosystem.

The book consistently distinguishes between what has been publicly documented, what has been demonstrated, what remains under development, and what is still part of the project's stated design.

It does not ask the reader to accept either the project's marketing claims or a predetermined negative conclusion. Instead, it explains the architecture, identifies the critical dependencies, and provides the conceptual tools needed to judge the project on the basis of evidence.

Written for several kinds of readers

The book is intended for investors, financial professionals, developers, researchers, and informed readers who want to understand Bitcoin Hyper without having to rely solely on promotional material or highly specialised technical documentation.

Technical concepts are explained through structured reasoning, practical examples, diagrams, and recurring questions, while preserving the precision required for a serious due diligence analysis.

Understanding comes before judgment.

This first volume reconstructs the technological foundations of Bitcoin Hyper. Volume II continues the investigation through competitive analysis, tokenomics, documentary gaps, risk assessment, and operational due diligence.

Together, the two volumes form a single independent study of a crypto project at the pre-mainnet stage.
