Ember & Shadow: Rob's Kimmy (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798270590482)

Ember & Shadow is a dark urban fantasy where survival and surrender intertwine inside a supernatural power struggle. Kimberly, a skilled appraiser and negotiator, lives for rare artifacts and high-stakes deals. Her life turns upside down when she acquires an ancient obsidian amulet-drawing the attention of Robert, a dragon disguised as a man. With molten gold eyes and a predatory aura, Robert upends her reality: the amulet, and now Kimberly herself, belong to his hoard.

Forced from her independent life, Kimberly is thrust into a brutal new world ruled by dominance, arcane power, and hierarchy. Robert's protection is absolute but demands complete submission; every act of rebellion or defiance carries dire consequences. As Kimberly fights to retain agency, her latent psychic abilities-awakened by the amulet-make her invaluable: not just a captive, but the "Heart of the Hoard," a living treasure whose rare powers can safeguard and organize the dragon's legendary collection.

The story unfolds inside a fortress carved into a mountain, where Kimberly must learn to survive supernatural threats, psychometric battles, and relentless psychological conditioning. She is trained, tested, and pushed beyond her limits. Each lesson in obedience is also a lesson in power-both the price and the prize for surviving as Robert's most valued possession. Their relationship blurs the lines between captor and protector, challenge and reward, leaving Kimberly to walk the razor edge of surrender and strength.

As the first book in a trilogy, Ember & Shadow explores themes of submission, agency, ownership, trauma, and self-reinvention. Kimberly's journey from resistance to pragmatic acceptance reshapes the meaning of power-not just for herself, but in the magical hierarchy she now inhabits. Outside forces, including vampires and rival factions, are always circling, and Kimberly's growth as a strategist and sentinel sets the stage for battles with enemies willing to wage wars for legendary treasures.

At the heart of the story is the transformation of both heroine and hero: Kimberly evolves from captive to Curator, then Sentinel; Robert reveals vulnerabilities and trusts her to guard his entire legacy. In a world where supernatural wars loom on the horizon, Kimberly becomes the linchpin-his obsession, his last line of defense, and the unexpected key to his survival.

Dark, intense, and charged with seductive power, Ember & Shadow is perfect for readers who love strong-willed heroines, domineering supernatural heroes, and romantic stories laced with psychological depth, danger, and a labyrinth of secrets.
