Michael was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1933. There in the Stella Ballroom, he met and fell in love with New York native Nora Halpin. Upon honorable discharge, he returned to the mortgage business and retired in 1999. He is the author of Reflections of a Greenhorn, a poetry compilation of 100 poems with references to many topics, including being a soldier. He also wrote The Brogues, an eighty six page rhyming ode, borrowing from Irish folklore and his own imagination. He has five children; eight grandchildren and resides in upstate New York.
