Wilbur Applebaum is Professor Emeritus at IllinoisInstitute of Technology, where he taught the history ofscience for twenty-five years. His research interests andpublications center on seventeenth-century astronomy andthe Scientific Revolution, for which he has receivedgrants from the National Science Foundation, MellonFoundation, National Institute of Mental Health and theAmerican Philosophical Society. He has served in aconsulting capacity for the Museum of Science andIndustry and the Adler Planetarium in Chicago.Among his recent publications are"Epistemological and Political Implications of theScientific Revolution."
