Entering Central Time (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798346039426)

Late one night outside a diner, Los Angeles circa 1999, criminals attempt to rob two waitresses. Acting on ethical instinct, little known actor, Tony Hearn, intercedes. The result, one of the robbers is killed by the other, who also wounds Hearn in the process.

An initial media sensation and heralded as a hero, Hearn quickly learns that unrealistic expectations come with the label. While Hearn battles to preserve his sense of self against media-hyped, public judgment, the killer plots revenge against Hearn.

Threading the story is an exploration of heroism. How do we define it? Who gets to decide what a hero is? What does a hero owe to an expectant public, if anything?"
