Essays of Contemporary Conscience (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781976272769)

Aurora Spring is the penname of the writer. He has done extensive work to restore Democracy in Guyana. Guyana was able to realize "free and fair" elections in 1992 and a 28-year dictatorship was peacefully removed. The writer was the founding member of the World Union of Guyanese for Democracy, USA and was elected its General Secretary. In his work for the cause of Democracy he wrote to every member of the US Congress, typing with one finger on a small portable typewriter. The country realized "free and fair" elections with assistance from ex-President Carter of the Carter Center. Dr. C.B. Jagan and his PPP "comrades, benefited from the conscientious work of the writer, in particular. To bring the cause of the lack of Democracy in Guyana and the dictatorial rule of its then "president for life" to the attention of the UN, the writer organized a 7-day fast in the Dag Hammarskjold plaza in NYC and he fasted there for 7 days. To his credit the writer has worked continuously and tirelessly for over three decades to create and establish the Indo-Caribbean Identity in the New York City's socio-cultural environment. As the General Secretary of the Indo-Caribbean Council, (ICC-NY) an organization he co-founded with his boyhood friend, the writer is always ready to represent the cause of Justice. In fact, when women were being kidnaped and ransomed in T&T, he organized "The Trinidad & Tobago Focus Group" and led a delegation to T&T to address and resolve the then political impasse in T&T. As the General Secretary of the ICC-NY he convened the first civic function in the Indo-Caribbean Community to commemorate the achievements of the Civil Rights Movement (USA), which was led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was influenced by the greatest, Mahatma Gandhi of India. He was instrumental in formalizing the Indo-Caribbean Federation of NA, which is still functioning, by writing its By-Laws and holding the Organization's first election. When New York State decided to recognize the Guyanese Community for their contributions to the economy of the state of New York, the writer was invited, with two others, to receive the Proclamation and Resolution that marked this historic event. With his associate and colleague the writer co-founded the first school for professional development in Queens, NY, which school, with his continuous contribution, continues to exist (while others have been closed) and certify thousands in the real estate industry.
