James W. Tharp was born and raised in Arkansas during the events in this book. His mother's persistent love, unwavering faith, and steadfast prayers for revival inspired him to write ESTELLE, a story of the remarkable spiritual awakening he witnessed not only in his immediate location, but also in surrounding counties, impacting thousands of people in every walk of life. Tharp was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in 1957. He has pastored churches in Indiana, Pennsylvania, California, New Mexico, Washington, and Montana. His ministry is dedicated to preparing the Church through prayer for another great spiritual awakening. In 1979, he began working with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, assisting the evangelist in his telephone counseling ministry. He was the personal guest of Billy Graham for the 10 days of "Amsterdam '86". From 1979-1981, Tharp lectured on the Holy Spirit for California Graduate School of Theology in their doctorate program. He pursued further studies at Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois and at Seattle Pacific University. Since 1994 he has been devoted to speaking in camp meetings, revivals, pastoral institutes, and conducting the School of Prayer, helping thousands to improve their prayer lives and deepen their Christian walk. Tharp is the founder and president of CHRISTIAN RENEWAL MINISTRIES based in Bozeman, Montana (formerly in Dothan, Alabama). He is the editor of a quarterly publication, The Christian Renewal Journal, and has a daily radio broadcast, A Word On Revival, which can be heard on the ministry's website, www.crmin.org.
