Dr. Joshua Coleman is a psychologist in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area and a senior fellow with the Council on Contemporary Families, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing public understanding of family life. He is widely recognized for his work on parent-adult child estrangement.
A frequent contributor to The Atlantic and The Washington Post's "Ask a Therapist" column, he has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, and CNN, among other outlets.
Dr. Coleman has trained clinicians on estrangement for the American Psychological Association, Stanford University, Weill Cornell, UC Irvine, and PESI and has given lectures at Harvard and Ohio State, among other institutions.
