Two of the many elements contributing to the safety of nuclear power are emergency response and the feedback from operating experience into plant operations. These are achieved partly by the licensee event reporting requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.72, "Immediate Notification Requirements for Operating Nuclear Power Reactors," and 10 CFR 50.73, "Licensee Event Report System."
