Evolution of AI Systems: From Chatbots to Humanoids (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798184783840)

The society of the future is likely to be shaped by a combination of human skills such as creativity, teamwork, and leadership coupled with AI's data processing, pattern recognition, content creation, and predictive analytics. Chatbots have already replaced hundreds of thousands of non-physical jobs but they are essentially knowledge databases with limited wisdom, trained using text-prompted datasets. The utility of AI is magnified significantly with human-like vision and physical action because a picture does speak a thousand words. The ability to see and analyze has revolutionize how state-of-the-art AI systems are designed and optimized, and has spawned the ultimate engineering masterpiece―humanoids. In this new era, humanoids will dominate many physical jobs. Humanoids are projected to be smarter than humans by 2027 and all of humanity by 2035, helping to bridge the human talent shortage caused by declining birth rates in the world population. More importantly, the humanoid is a personal concierge every young or old adult would like to have. An adaptive or autonomous system can be hard-coded to follow fixed steps and hence, does not qualify as an AI system. A true AI system is not only conscious of its environment but capable of learning from it with few or no human instructions, making the system unique and different from other systems, much like a talented child being nurtured in its own home or in the neighborhood school. This concise book uncovers many insights into the progress of AI technology and the key principles underpinning modern AI systems. Additionally, it is jam-packed with interesting ideas and applications that both novice and expert can harness in a short space of time.
