Experimental Building Science (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025653204)

"Experimental Building Science", Volume 2, represents a foundational exploration into the technical and physical principles underlying construction and architectural design. This volume delves into the practical application of scientific methodology to the building trades, focusing on the mechanical properties of materials and the structural forces at play in various architectural forms. By bridging the gap between theoretical physics and manual craftsmanship, Manson and Drury provide a rigorous framework for understanding how buildings respond to environmental stresses and internal loads.

Designed for students of building and civil engineering, the work emphasizes experimental observation as a means to master the complexities of structural stability and material endurance. Topics covered typically include the behavior of beams, the distribution of stress, and the chemical and physical properties of common building materials. As a significant contribution to early twentieth-century technical literature, "Experimental Building Science" serves as both a historical record of architectural education and a testament to the evolution of modern construction standards. This volume remains a valuable resource for those interested in the history of engineering and the scientific evolution of the built environment.
