Dr. Uddin is a physician. He graduated from Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh. He did his residency and fellowship in the U.S. Dr. Uddin has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and he has been inducted as a fellow in the prestigious institution of the American College of Physicians. He taught in medical school as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and he served as Chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology. Dr. Uddin left the medical school to start private practice in 1981, which he continued until 2007. While in practice, he served as the Department Chair at various hospitals in the city and taught students, residents and other medical personnel. He conducted various clinical and drug research, and he published papers in medical journals. Beside his professional work, Dr. Uddin has been extensively involved in community affairs. He conducted seminars and lectures for professionals as well as community members. His philanthropic activities involve establishing teaching institutions, charitable foundations and hospitals. His retired life is dedicated to research work and community services.
