Phyllis Goodwin writes historical fiction. Her first novel "Cry for me Argentina" was inspired by a true story of her mother's life when she left home to be a nanny in Switzerland and later Argentina. She has also written a collection of short stories and two dog books about a rare breed, The Field Spaniel. "Father's Dead Where's Mother? was inspired by the harrowing account in Marcus Rainsford's book, "The Black Empire of Hayti". She decided to write her own fictional version of the story.
