Feast on Cornwall: Hidden Seafood Shacks, Legendary Pasty Trails, and the Most Delicious Food Experiences the Tourist Maps Miss (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798186739739)

THE CORNWALL EVERY LOCAL KNOWS AND EVERY TOURIST MISSESYou have booked the cottage. You have circled the harbour towns on the map. You are already picturing yourself with a pasty in one hand and a view of the Atlantic in the other. And yet, if you are honest with yourself, you already suspect something. The Cornwall you are about to visit, the one built from the same five restaurants and the same photogenic cream tea shop that everyone else is booking too, is not actually the best version of this county. It is simply the most visible one.
Here is the problem most food loving travellers run into without realising it. The internet has flattened Cornwall into a handful of famous names, repeated across a thousand blog posts and travel accounts until they start to feel less like recommendations and more like obligations. You queue where everyone queues. You eat where everyone eats. You leave with lovely photographs and a nagging feeling that you missed something, because you did. Half a mile down the coast, a fisherman is selling crab from a cool box that never makes it onto anyone's feed. A family bakery three streets back from the harbour has been perfecting a pasty recipe for forty years without ever needing a sign. A supper club in a barn is finishing its final course under fairy lights while the crowds outside the famous restaurant are still waiting for a table.
This keeps happening because finding Cornwall's real food takes something a search engine cannot give you, which is time spent on the ground, conversations with the people actually doing the cooking, growing, and baking, and the patience to follow a recommendation down a lane that no algorithm would ever suggest. Most visitors simply do not have the luxury of years of return trips to build that kind of knowledge for themselves. So they default to the same five names, and Cornwall's true food culture stays exactly where it has always been. Hidden in plain sight, waiting for someone to ask the right question.
That is exactly the gap this book closes. Built from years of genuine, repeated exploration across every corner of the county, this is a complete, thematically organised guide to the food experiences that actually deserve your time, your appetite, and your money. Inside, you will find

• Verified, unmissable seafood shacks and hidden feast nights along the Cornish coast
• The real pasty trail, with the bakeries locals actually queue for
• Cream teas and bakeries worth a detour, not just a photograph
• Markets and farm shops where you buy directly from the people who grow and make it
• Cornwall's booming drinks trail, from vineyards to gin distilleries
• Foraging experiences that put you directly in Cornwall's wild larder
• Festivals and seasonal feasts worth planning a trip around
• Secret supper clubs and pop up dinners most visitors never hear about
• Sweet Cornish traditions and the edible souvenirs genuinely worth carrying home

Every recommendation comes with the practical detail you actually need, how to get there, what to order, and what makes it worth your time, without a single wasted page.
You have one trip to Cornwall booked, or perhaps one more before you have truly seen it all. Either way, do not let it look exactly like everyone else's. Get this book, follow it past the obvious harbour and the familiar queue, and give yourself the Cornwall that has been quietly waiting for the traveller curious enough to come looking. Your table is set. Come and find it.
