Felicity's Story: A Steamy Regency Romance (Unlikely matches of the ton - Book 2) (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781739680053)

Orphaned young and raised by her aunt and uncle, Felicity dreams of independence and literary success. Her closest friends share her love for scandalous literature, delighting in their clandestine Gothic book group meetings where they explore the darker tales that polite society shuns.

During an opulent house party, Felicity's life takes an unexpected turn when Adam Fletcher, the enigmatic Earl of Tanley arrives. Still reeling from an embarrassing encounter with him just weeks before, Felicity is horrified when their paths cross again.

Adam is only attending the house party to aid in his investigations, working secretly with the constabulary to uncover criminal activity within the aristocracy.

Thrown together by chance, Felicity and Adam navigate a growing attraction, featuring witty clashes, romantic entanglements, and comic misadventures. Their eventual passionate union forces Felicity to re-examine everything she believed about love, spinsterhood, and her future, culminating in a tale blending romance, scandal, and mystery.

'Do I need to introduce myself or are you going to once again deny that we have already met?' Adam teased, relishing the way he made her cheeks go crimson.

Having backed away slightly, Felicity's backside was now resting against the corner of the desk.

'You really are quite lovely when you blush. Is it just me that makes your face redden, my lady?' he said, continuing to take pleasure in her predicament.

Hands at her sides, Felicity grasped the material of her gown.

I will not run this time ... He will not get the better of me ...

'You, my lord are a scoundrel. Did you follow me in here? Were you never taught that it is unacceptable to be alone with an unchaperoned young lady?' Felicity snapped. 'It is most inappropriate.'

Adam laughed, before moving away from her, holding his hands up as if surrendering, pleased that she had reacted to his comment in such a way. Felicity watched his broad back as he retreated, feeling slightly disappointed as the distance between them grew wider.

'I knew there was a spirited lady in there. However, I would still like to know why you followed me the evening of the ball, Lady Felicity?'
