""Five Thousand Miles In A Sledge: A Mid-Winter Journey Across Siberia"" is a travelogue written by Lionel Francis Gowing, originally published in 1889. The book chronicles Gowing's journey across Siberia during the mid-winter months of 1887-1888. Gowing, who was a British journalist, traveled over 5,000 miles by sledge, with his companions, through some of the most remote and inhospitable regions of Siberia. The book provides a detailed account of their journey, including the challenges they faced, the people they met, and the landscapes they encountered. Gowing's vivid descriptions of the harsh Siberian winter, the vast expanses of snow-covered wilderness, and the various cultures and customs of the Siberian people make for a fascinating and engaging read. The book is a valuable historical document, providing insights into the geography, history, and culture of Siberia during the late 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
