Professor Václav Tesař received his Ing. degree in mechanical engineering and later his CSc from the Czech Technical University, where he served as Head of the Department of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics. He has also lectured as a visiting professor at Keio University, Japan, and Northern Illinois University, USA. Between 1999 and 2005, he was employed as Professor at the University of Sheffield, UK. Since 2006, he has served as Professor Emeritus and Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He is the author of four textbooks, 400 research articles, and the book Pressure-Driven Microfluidics.
