Forbidden Desires: A Literary Novel of Scholarship, Memory, and the Pursuit of Truth (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798188171063)

A young scholar's promising future is cut short by an unexpected tragedy, leaving behind an unfinished doctoral thesis and a question that refuses to disappear.

When academics at a Zimbabwean university begin retracing the final months of Rebecca Ncube's research, they expect to uncover answers. Instead, they discover something far more profound. The search becomes a journey through archives, forgotten correspondence, mentorship, institutional memory, and the quiet conversations that shape both scholars and universities.

As colleagues, students, librarians, and archivists work together to understand Rebecca's unfinished work, they learn that true scholarship is not measured merely by completed manuscripts or prestigious titles. It is found in intellectual humility, ethical leadership, careful mentorship, and the willingness to ask questions that endure beyond one generation.

Set within the rich intellectual landscape of an African university, Forbidden Desires is a thoughtful literary novel exploring the nature of truth, legacy, and the communities that preserve knowledge. Rather than relying on sensational twists, it offers a deeply human portrait of academic life and the enduring influence of one scholar's unfinished conversation.

For readers who appreciate reflective fiction, university settings, and character-driven storytelling, this novel is an invitation to consider what it truly means to leave a lasting legacy.
