In 1799, during the Revolutionary War, when Americans fought for their freedom from British rule, not all were free in Pennsylvania. In the state, during this time, slavery was legal, and interracial marriage was considered taboo. That however didn't stop, abolitionist Martha Wright falling for freed slave, Thomas Freeman. Although they were different races, their love persevered through the bigotry and prejudice of their time. This is their story of how they fought for their freedom and their love.
