Foundations of Industrial Education (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025667492)

"Foundations of Industrial Education" offers a comprehensive examination of the principles, historical development, and philosophical underpinnings of vocational and technical training. F. Theodore Struck provides an authoritative overview of how industrial education evolved from ancient apprenticeship systems into a structured academic discipline. The work analyzes the societal, economic, and legislative forces that shaped the demand for specialized manual training and explores the integration of practical labor with theoretical knowledge.

The text delves into the various formats of vocational schooling, including trade schools, part-time programs, and evening classes, while addressing the psychological methods most effective for teaching technical skills. By emphasizing the importance of preparing the individual for a productive role in a modern industrial society, the author highlights the essential link between education and economic progress. "Foundations of Industrial Education" serves as a vital historical resource for understanding the evolution of technical pedagogy and the foundational theories that continue to influence vocational education today.
