Fourth Position for the Cello (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781635230703)

Fourth Position for the Cello uses technical exercises and carefully chosen position pieces to teach you the notes and shifts. From playing across strings to slurred shifting to cello harmonics, this book gives you essential intermediate cello skills.

Each exercise on the left hand page is followed by short pieces on the right-hand page that use the exact note or skill taught in the exercise, helping you to put cello technique in context and get ready to play repertoire.

This cello position method goes step by step through closed and extended finger patterns, introducing the positions in a way that establishes reliable muscle memory.

Teachers can assign Fourth Position for the Cello to their students, along with Second Position for the Cello and Third Position for the Cello, as part of a guided regimen of position training.
